Computing Seminar: The SKA and its Computing Challenges - not broadcast 1h

The Square Kilometre Array project is an international collaboration involving eleven countries (and counting). This new astronomical observatory, due to come online in the 2020s, will provide new vistas of the radio universe through the generation and analysis of unprecedented volumes of data. The computational and data management challenges of the SKA have some unique features which this talk will outline, but also challenges similar to those being faced by other big science projects such as the HL-LHC. The presentation will cover these areas of commonality and suggest areas for collaboration between CERN and SKA.
