      I ran on PU70 for timing purposes on KNL phi2. The numbers are for single-thread run with clone-engine. The mictest code is built with ICC and settings allowing to use AVX512 operations.

      • older version [before the transition region was added]:
        • default/before sin-cos update in PR #105, building step: 29.3 s
        • with sin-cos fix in PR #105: 24.3 s
      • Version as of yesterday (8278aba), including the transition region
        • with sin-cos fix in PR #105: 42.2 s  or 0.42 s/event
      • Recall: the CMSSW takes 7.8 s/event to build tracks for the same seeds as used in mkFit, which is about a factor of 20 slower.

      The increase in CPU is not even a factor of 2 increase and Matevz implied that there are still places to optimize.
