_____________________ 1 *********Upload CDS videos********* _____________________ Hello and welcome, this is a tutorial on how to upload a video on the CERN document server video platform. On the main CDS video platform page, after you have logged in, click on “upload” at the top right. Here you can either select a file from your device or simply drag and drop it in the area. Otherwise, you can use the URL of your video. Make sure that the video format of your file is accepted by the site. After you have clicked on “upload”, there will be a transcoding process underway, along with the upload of the actual video, the extraction of the metadata, and a frame extraction. This process might take a while, depending on the duration of the video. In this page, it is important to note that there is a difference between the **project** and the **file** you uploaded. The project contains the video you uploaded, but can also contain: -Several other videos, or… -Other types of files, such as a pdf. You can think of the project as a folder containing the files you want to upload. The idea is that you can save the project and come back to it later even if the video or the other files are not yet fully uploaded. The first big blue box at the top refers to the entire project, whereas the other grey one lower in the page, refers to the various files that you can upload inside your project. In the blue box at the top related to your entire project, on the “Basic Info” tab, add general information about your project such as -The title -A description -Some key words -THE CATEGORY FOR YOUR ENTIRE PROJECT. -The contributors. You can start typing the name of the contributor, suggestions will appear. Then select the role for your contributor. You can add more than one contributors. Finally, tick the box if you want your video to be shown directly in the homepage, Or if it’s a 360 video. Other Tabs are also available: If you go to the “files” tab, you can upload other files to your project, such as PDF files for text related to the video for example. In the “license” tab you can select the license for the video Licenses can be chosen from the available ones, but you can add more if you want. In the tab, “translations”, it's possible to have a translation of the information of the project (title, and description) into another language. If you do that, please select the language you’ve chosen. Finally, in the tab “Access Rights”, you can restrict your project to a particular group or users. You can restrict the access to your entire project, and specify restrictions for the record only. If you scroll further down, you CAN SEE two upload file options. The first one is for the video you just uploaded, called the “master file”, and the second one to add other videos to the project. If you scroll down the page to one of your grey boxes for each of the VIDEOS you want to include in the project, you can see several tabs that will allow you to include information about the files you uploaded. Before filling out all the information, Please note that you can inherit some information while typing in the field box for the specific files you decide to upload. More specifically, you can inherit metadata or contributors from the project. In this case, from the video we just uploaded, the “master file”. Simply click on the gear icon, and select the option you want. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CHOSEN THE CATEGORY FOR YOUR PROJECT BEFORE DOING THIS. Some of the same tabs from the project are available here. Along with the ones seen before, you can add several links relevant to the files you have uploaded, in the “related links” tab. You can also include subtitles for the video in the “Files” Tab. The idea is that you can add more than one video, and each video will have different links, different licenses and so on. ONCE YOU HAVE ENTERED ALL THE RELEVANT INFORMATION FOR YOUR entire PROJECT AND FOR ALL ADDITIONAL VIDEOS OR FILES, YOU CAN SAVE ONE OF YOUR VIDEOS, OR YOUR ENTIRE PROJECT. PLEASE NOTE THAT BY CLICKING ON THE SAVE BUTTON YOU ARE SIMPLY SAVING THE PROJECT (OR ONE OF THE VIDEOS). ONLY WHEN THE UPLOAD OF THE VIDEO, THE VIDEO METADATA EXTRACTION, THE VIDEO FRAME EXTRACTION AND THE VIDEO TRANSCODING ARE FINISHED, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PUBLISH YOUR COMPLETE PROJECT WITH YOUR FILES. CLICK ON “PUBLISH PROJECT” AT THE TOP WHEN EVERYTHING IS READY. Congratulations, now you know how to upload a video on the CERN document server video platform.
