Approval of minutes

The minutes of the LIU-PSB WG #215 meeting were approved.

Communications

LIU-PT Meeting:

• M. Meddahi presented the review of the LIU budget to the HL-LHC committee. After all arbitrations, the project identified 2.5 MCHF as potential cost reduction accepting the increased risk. This amount will (partly) compensate for the 3.5 MCHF additional spending for fellows. The money will be moved to a 'Management Reserve WU' in 2021 to ensure that the CtC remains the same.
• During the dedicated meeting between TE-EPC and the integration team, it was discussed that many ECRs cannot be approved due to models from EN-EL that are still to be validated by integration and SMB-SE. The plan is to have the validation round completed by end June 2018.

LIU-PT meetings with dedicated equipment group:

• BE-CO will need the software requests to be submitted by September 2018 to plan their material orders and installation work, even if they are incomplete.
• G. Petrika prepared a list of the user requirements for the cooling circuit and notified the experts. The document can be looked up in EDMS 1991037.

WP analysis for LS2 (D. Hay)

• The Work Package Analysis (WPA) framework has been used for the LHC Project, the Long Shutdown 1 (LS1), and it will be now used for LS2.
• A WPA focuses on safety, coordination, and logistics. It is complementary to an ECR document and it encourages collaboration among different working groups. The WPA document remains active and applicable throughout the life of the work package and it is signed off only when the installation is complete.
• The WPA document will be reviewed from May to September 2018 and the approval process will take place from June to October 2018.
• The schedule baseline is on week 45 (November) and BE-RF would like to start the commissioning in November 2019.
• It should be noted that the de-cabling and cabling campaigns are still not defined and that the Individual System Tests (IST) must be included in the WPA.

List of the WPA for the PSB

• LIU New RF Finemet Cavities: the de-cabling and cabling campaigns will be declared during the dedicated WPA scheduled for the 2^nd of July 2018.
• LIU New Injection Region: the new BSW1 pulse transformers will be installed, including its cooling manifolds and support structure. The pressure of the cooling systems will increase to 25 bar, so all valves need to be upgraded. In order to access the pipes, it was requested to remove the supporting metal structure around the accelerator. However, this structure supports equipment and cannot be so easily removed. The cooling of the BSW1 can be installed at the end of LS2, which will free some space.
• LIU New PFN for the BI.DIS10: the new equipment will weight 2.5 tonnes per rack, while the false floor can withstand 1 ton per square meter. The false floor will be reinforced with metal plates and SMB will do the load calculations for HSE approval.
• LIU Reconfiguration of the Injection and Extraction Lines: the BI.BTV40: chamber, vacuum, and beam instrumentation need to be consolidated. There is an open question concerning the removal of the equipment in the BT line. The removal of the remaining redundant heating system has been cancelled due to the budget cut in CONSOLIDATION. Flanges will need to be changed due to the increase in pressure in the cooling system, but their change will be fast since they are screwed and not welded. The transport paths need to be clear until the delivery of the BTM.BHZ10 magnet. The painting campaign can only be done once the vacuum systems are fully closed. The issues with the shielding wall be the PSB and the PS need to be resolved soon.

Comments

• B. Mikulec asked to add a new WPA for BI that will include the wire scanner installation, and in particular the BLM installation.
• B. Mikulec asked if the groups that want to do ISTs have been identified. D. Hay answered that BE-ABT will certainly carry out some test, and EN-ACE is working on identifying all the needed individual tests.
• B. Mikulec asked if the BE-RF tests can start in January 2020. D. Hay answered that the safety officer needs to give their advice first, but until now BE-RF expressed their interest in keeping the schedule as such, i.e. Start their tests in November 2019
• D. Hay commented that the whole schedule relies on the cabling campaign and that a complete planning cannot be done before this is settled.

AOB

Report on the ECRs for LS2 (T. Birtwistle)

The ECRs can be now sent without a fully completed integration study, just a minimum of information is required. In this way, other teams will be informed sooner, although the ECR cannot be signed until the full integration studies are completed.

TE-ABT

• The new BT.KFA10 kicker 3D models is now under approval and the BEr.KFA14L1 ECR is waiting on impedance studies.

TE-MSC

• Waiting on the damping resistor studies.

TE-EPC

• The septa transformers for the extraction line components will fit in the existing volumes, so probably no ECR is required.

BE-BI

• BLMs:  the draft is in preparation.
• Wire scanners: under approval.

BE-RF

• Waiting for final integration studies.

EN-STI

• Vacuum chamber models needed.

EN-CV

• They will work on ventilation in low priority to be ready for an unforeseen event.

EN-ACE

• Waiting on the integration studies for the LBE line.
