PS report (H. Damerau):

Difficult week for the PS Complex with about 87.2% beam availability

  • Cooling issues after power glitch on Thursday FTN line and septum SMH57 affected: 4h downtime in total for EAST beams

  • Short-circuit cuts ‘uninterruptable’ supply for low-level RF on Sunday Broken switch mode power supply in OASIS front-end: 3h50 downtime for all beams

  • Beams cut by software interlock system on Wednesday: 1h25 downtime for all EAST beams

  • Frequent trips of MTE bumper power converters on Wednesday. Timing issue with MD cycle2h40 downtime for all MTE beam to SPS

  • Vacuum seems again degraded in F61 line since Tuesday: Investigating

  • In total 11h00 of downtime due to PSB faults
    • BT.BHZ10 power converter, 4h
    • Recombination kicker converters, 2h30
    • Intervention for BPM and repair of bumper converter, 1h20
    • Ejection bumper trips due to side-effects of PS electric issues, 0h40

SPS report (Kevin Li):

Very bad week for NA physics, 72.1% beam availability (see slides).

  • Splitter BLM (27h15 downtime)
  • Data bus NA power convertors (16h downtime)
  • Thunderstorms (4h downtime)
  • Injectors (5h20 downtime)
  • ZS (3h downtime)
  • RF controls (down mixing module on cavity 4) (2h40)

Schedule (H. Wilkens):

No dedicated SPS MD was foreseen on July 25th, during the LHC MD week. However LHC wants to take Pb81+, this requieres a striper in TT10 and is not compatible with FT physics. Discussions are on going with the MD coordinators about which upcoming dedicated MD to move to Jul. 25th.

  • From SPS users side, best would be next weeks MD (helps NA61 and SHiP).
  • From NA beam physicists: better to keep a dedicated MD on Aug 22 and 29, as there will be the neutrino platfrom DSO test preparation and actual tests on these days respectively.
  • Move parallel MD from Thursday to Wednesday that week.

East Area:

IRRAD&CHARM (G. Pezzulo): New EP/DT user in IRRAD, on going test on the DCDC converters. No update on CHARM. The increased backgounds re-appears, there is a problem again on the window in F61. Suggest to use a mylar instead.

T9: T2K sFGD (E. Noah): Good run, (see slides), thanks to the PS and EA teams.

T9: BL4S (M. Joos): Added delay wire chambers, gas pressure was adjusted. Using one DWC from the beam instrumentation. Safety passed.

T9: ALICE Focal: Electronics arrived. DAQ is running in the lab. Ready.

T10 ALICE TOF (C. Williams): All is OK.

T11 CLOUD (J.Pfeifer): Successfull run, despite problems with the compressor. Lacking some of the measurements at the lowest temperature.

nTOF:

  • Absent

North Area:

H2 NA61 (A. Aduszkiewicz): CEDAR PMT was replaced last week. On Sunday, the VTX1 magnet ramped down in a slow dump triggered by a blown fuse in the cryogenics system. The magnet was re-powered only today, as it needed cooldown.

H4 SHiP muons (E. van Herwijnen): Safety inspection delayed start of data-taking till Friday.  Currently receiving 107 pot/spill. This is good, at the limit of the acceptable rate for the detectors. Preliminary observations is the trigger rate is higher than expected, and the number of muons lower. Goal is 1011pot. This should be in reach if we have  sufficient time with short supercyles with 2 FT. This will define the day of the change over to the CHARM measurement (Monday 23rd or Wednesday 25th).

H6  ATLAS ITK (A. Rummler): Qualification of different assemblies with new RD53 readout chip, and different DAQ options. CMT TK (N. Deelen): commissioning of new telescope ongoing.

H8 LHCb Sci-Fi (B. Leverington): See slides. First clusters seen last night. Proceeding with data-taking at 500k tracks/spill.

NA62 (M. Mirra): Problem on the cryo-pump last week (Sunday 00 to 18:00). Stop of UPS due to shorted equipement downstream -> fire brigade. Restarted Monday evening. Need 37 units on T4 max.

COMPASS (V. Andrieux): Power glitch during thunder storm induced loss of target polarisation. Beam stability much better. During the MD several of the areas were left in free mode by the technical teams.

AWAKE / HiRadMat:

E. Gschwendtner absent. F. Harden absent. In discussion with the users the HiRadMat exclusive slot is tolerated from Wednesday 6pm to 10pm.
