The purpose was to go through Thijs' presentation and discuss & comment its contents. So more of verifying and not bringin new points of view to the discussions.

  • CERN projects, departmental projects,
  • Cost estimation
  • detailed vs more global
  • success criteria for a project; close to perfect budgets, scope and cost
  • discounting
    • "we don't do that in CERN" --> a lot of discussion and in the end, decided to drop it from the framework and leave time value of money out of it
  • costs are estimated differently in companies because they have a sales price in the end
  • function/ activity based methods
