Description

A kind of cold compressor whose helium flow is 30g/s has been applied to a large cryogenic refrigeration system successfully. For future development, we have designed a new kind of cold compressor using high temperature superconducting bearings instead of electromagnet bearings or ceramic bearings, so that the difficulties of thermal isolations and electrical control strategies can be reduced. In order to know about high temperature superconducting bearings, an experimental prototype based on the operating conditions of cold compressors has been designed whose frequency is 500Hz. The prototype contains a rotor, a motor, two high temperature superconducting radial bearings, two electromagnet radial bearings, an axial bearing and two auxiliary bearings. An experimental system has also been designed to test the stability of the prototype, the loss and frictional characteristics of high temperature superconducting bearings.In this work, some simulation analyses results and the design of the experimental systemare given, including calculations of stiffness and damp, modal analyses, thermal analyses and the diagram of the experimental system.
