“Establishing diversity in a team and collaboration – not that simple”
Join us for our 4th WIT Diversity talk with Christoph Rembser. The interview will be conducted by Coralie Neubüser.
The WIT Diversity Talks are a complement to the WIT Talks, as the former somehow turn the tables with regards to the latter: in the WIT Talks, women are interviewed around their careers, acting as role models in that sense. With the WIT Diversity Talks, the focus would be to talk about personal experiences on diversity and provide male role models to show that this is also a question for men. Normally interviews like this are the other way around, men about career and women about diversity!
The purpose is to raise awareness and provide role models on how one as a (male) ally can participate in progressing the issue.
As per usual, the talk will be followed by networking lunch in R1.
Short biography
Christoph Rembser
Christoph Rembser had his first high-energy experience as a CERN summer student in 1989. Since then he has worked on the ZEUS and OPAL experiments, gaining expertise in various types of detectors and searching for new physics phenomena.
After an intermezzo in 2004 and 2005 as a professor at the University of Erlangen, he returned to CERN to find new particles with the ATLAS detector at the LHC.
For ATLAS, he served from 2008 until 2013 as project leader for the Inner Detector and the Transition Radiation Detector. Since 2016, Christoph is the leader of the CERN ATLAS team, which plays a mayor role in operating, maintaining and upgrading the ATLAS experiment.
CERN offers great physics opportunities also at its other accelerators, so Christoph, from 2005 until 2007, also served as physics coordinator for the CERN PS and SPS physics programme. Since 2010 he acts as scientific secretary of the SPS and PS experiments Committee.
