Abstract Compactifications of Heterotic theories on Calabi-Yau manifolds have a Chern-Simons like contribution to their four dimensional superpotential. In this talk I will discuss some aspects of computations and general theory behind understanding this often ignored contribution to the effective theory of such constructions.
