MQYYM Assembly preparation

Europe/Zurich

Participants Juan Carlos Perez, Damien Simon et Helene Felice:

- JCP will send to CEA the reference of the wire used for the quench heaters

- CEA technicians (Romain and Ricardo) will be at CERN the week of 21st to 25th (precise dates and time to be confirmed by CEA)

-Damien will also be at CERN

-the work planned  is (in red, CERN equipment to be provided):

  • finalization of the ground plane insulation => oven availbility
  • check of the resistance of the trace and of teh geometric parameters => 4 wire measuring system typically used at CERN so we can check the process
  • preparation of the assembly such as
    • practice assembly of the support with the bottom plate
    • practice handling of the shipping/tilting fixture ("bobsleig") with a "dead weight", JCP is concerned about the transition from tilted to vertical.
    • a complete list has to be established
  • the calibration of the coil measuring tooling will restart once the mesuring bar instrum is repaired. schedule will be assessed on a weekly basis.

- discussion about the assembly:

  • JCP suggests not to use the rods during assembly of the yoke lamination. The alignment keys will be sufficient to guide the laminations. the rods would add complexity.
  • there are no stops planned in the bottom flange for the first bullets. this will have to be added
  • the tensionning of the rods need to be assessed. the rods are SS and are expected to shrink 3 mm/m. we need to make sure that we will not plastify them, while assuring the proper compaction factor of the yoke.
  • we also need to prepare the shimming plan of the coils: are we planning a different shimming in the straight section and in the ends?
  • bullets: JCP mentions that the schedule will be tight to implement bullet gauges. The decision is to continue to look for a solution. if possible it will be implemented, if time does not allow, bullet gauges will not be included.
  • procedure preparation: JCP suggests to use a Hl-LHC template for the procedure and to start to write it during the practice assembly next week
