Description

Abstract: This informal, fast-paced talk outlines the structure and function of modern Content Delivery Networks.  It's intended as a basis for discussion rather than a full CDN tutorial.

Bio: John Dilley (Jad) is Chief Architect at Rafay Systems, a 2017 start-up focused on the development of edge computing technology.  Prior to Rafay he spent 16 years at Akamai, where he helped develop the Akamai content delivery, application acceleration, and cloud security businesses; and before that he was a distributed systems research scientist at HP Laboratories. He is interested in all kinds of distributed systems -- from small embedded devices to Internet-scale services and platforms powering global applications. He holds an MS in Computer Science from Purdue University, focused on networking and operating systems.
