Call to dd4hep users about future extensions and satisfaction Room: 40/R-B10 Dear colleagues, dear DD4hep users, you are receiving this mail because you are registered as a DD4hep user. We, the authors, are currently discussing possible improvements and extensions to dd4hep. Among the improvements we are aiming to incorporate in DD4hep we though about the following extensions and features: - Fast simulation in DDG4 - Visual overlap detection for geometry debugging - Gateway to a git based database (developed by LHCb) for dd4hep conditions and alignments as a possible persistency mechanism. We are however aware that we may not have a clear overview about the needs and wishes of our users outside the linear collider community. Hence, the scope of this email is thus to encourage you to contact us regarding additional features that you believe are important for your community and should be incorporated in DD4hep. Please send a - ideally prioritized - list of proposals to the DD4hep Authors mailing list (dd4hep-authors@cern.ch) before May 5th. We will then compile a comprehensive list of possible future developments. This compilation will as well serve as a basis for an evaluation of a possible application for the follow-up project of AIDA2020 of the European Union, while also examining the possibilities of what can be done within the existing man-power budget. If you believe the existing functionality is sufficient, we would nevertheless appreciate feedback, to get an idea of the "mood" of our users. We hope to hear from you soon!
