Description
In preparation for the LHC upgrade in phase II, high Jc conductors are developed for application in new quadrupole and dipole magnets. The first Nb3Sn conductors for this purpose have been cabled at CERN in 2005. To get a better understanding of the current carrying capabilities of these conductors short samples of the full conductor have to be measured aside from the standard extracted strand measurements. Due to the brittle and sensitive nature of Nb3Sn this is not a straight forward task. In this seminar the current possibilities and results of conductor measurements will be discussed, as well as the performance of the conductors developed here at CERN.
