The Brazilian National Science and Technology Week (SNCT) is a nationwide event coordinated by the Science,Technology and Communications Minister (MCTIC) since 2004. It aims at promoting science outreach activities across the country, targeting the lay public and elementary and high school students. In 2018 MCTIC recorded actions promoted by 1447 institues in 889 brazilian cities and for the current year it is expected a fair increase in these numbers. In the State of Santa Catarina, most of the actions are organized and hosted in the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) as well as in two Federal Institutes (IFSC and IFC).
