Description

SCET is the field theory description of the soft and collinear singularities of quantum field theories. I review the construction and how it leads to factorization and resummation in QCD. I then discuss recent advances that include a variety of topics beyond QCD, such as dark matter annihilation and QED effects, as well as the first results beyond the leading power in the soft-collinear expansion. I conclude with a few field theoretical peculiarities of SCET: a non-renormalization theorem, an anomaly and the violation of a classic theorem on operator mixing.
