Joint technology effort between CERN and the Gravitational Waves Community

This workshop will be the place where new ideas as well as research and development for future gravitational wave detectors will be discussed, covering all instrumental aspects of gravitational wave detection.

The workshop will focus on vacuum and cryogenic technologies. Four workpackages have been identified for the parallel sessions:

  • WP1: Materials, outgassing rates and surface treatments;

  • WP2: Tube geometry and pumping system; 

  • WP3: Cryogenic approach;

  • WP4: Construction, assembly procedures and bakeout.
