T. Schmidt comments that the FEL performance requests on the afterburner drives the undulator technology choice towards a cryogenic in-vacuum structure, rather than a room temperature. So, the benchmark configuration is identified as made up of helical superconducting undulators for the SASE line and by in-vacuum cryogenic permanent magnet undulators for the afterburner.

H.M.C. Cortes asks about the degree to which the complete control of polarization is realized. J. Gethmann answers that it should be similar to the Apple-II configuration.

Discussion about the wakefield effects on FEL spectrum bandwidth evolution, within the helical superconducting undulators and about how tapering could recover the energy lost along the undulator line.

Great progress has been achieved in microwave undulators R&D: precise electron beam dynamics studies are envisaged and a proof of concept experiment is proposed at the Cocckroft Institute.
