THE MEETING HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19 VIRUS CIRCUMSTANCES

This first Physics & Astronomy LOcally Organized Assembly (PALOOZA) meeting has been organized by students with the intention of bringing the KU Physics & Astronomy undergraduate and graduate student community together. While students are developing interesting research results day-by-day, we presently do not count with a common space where we can learn and share what every student is working on. This event has the intention of providing a venue that would help fill those gaps, and hopefully bring us closer together as a student community, as well.

The event takes place at the Interdisciplinary Science Building (ISB), room 1160, and spans two days starting on Friday March 20 during the afternoon with a poster session, and a series of plenary talk sessions on Saturday March 21 starting during the morning and finishing during the afternoon. Each plenary talk has a duration of 10 minutes, leaving room for 5 minutes for questions, and is aimed for the wide audience of the Department of Physics & Astronomy (Not too technical).

Registrations are open, can be done here: https://indico.cern.ch/event/869645/registrations/55451/ . Even if you do not present a contribution, you are more than welcome to join the meeting and enjoy the talks. Coffee breaks and the lunch on Saturday are provided free of charge thanks to the generous support of the Department of Physics & Astronomy.

The call for abstracts is open, and can be found here: https://indico.cern.ch/event/869645/abstracts/ . While there is no strict deadline for the abstract submission, there will be a limit of 30 oral contributions after which the call for abstracts will be closed, and a limit of poster contributions given by the space available for the session. For graduate students, oral contributions will count as part of their talk requirement towards their Ph.D. degree.

This event is supported by the University of Kansas Department of Physics & Astronomy. We thank the technical support provided by Business Manager Kristin Rennells.
