Travel Information

General Information

The Lisbon airport is located in the city borders, about 5 km away from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). The airport is connected to the city centre by Metrobuses and taxi (Uber is also operative). IST and its neighbourhood, where most of the suggested Hotels are located, are close to the Metro stations Alameda, Saldanha or S. Sebastião. A taxi from the airport to IST should cost around 10 euros. There is a small fee for the luggage. Taxi drivers in Lisbon are usually honest, however the airport seems to attract a special breed. Therefore, we strongly suggest you to go to the Departures, one floor up from Arrivals, if you plan to catch a taxi.

If you plan to reach Lisbon by train, there are two main train stations, namely Gare do Oriente and Santa Apolónia, both connected to the Metro network (red and blue lines, respectively). Check the CP website for detailed information.
