Particle physics in 2020 is exciting as it ever was. The experiments at CERN are probing the Standard Model of Particle Physics and until now they are confirming its predictions with increasing precision. We could lay back and celebrate the achievements, wouldn’t there be clear observations that this theory is not complete?
During the presentation I will sketch what we know and why we believe there is still so much to explore. I will further present a few highlights from the achievements of the experiments at CERN in 2019 and then finally discuss the status of the Update of the European Strategy of Particle Physics.
