PyHEP 2020 will be held on the campus of the University of Texas in central Austin, the capital of Texas and the core of a metropolitan area of over 2 million. The city is known for its lifestyle, music, and its proximity to nature.

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport has service from all major US airlines and non-stops to all US hubs, as well as London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Paris.  For visitors from within Texas, the city is served by (among others) Megabus, Greyhound, Flixbus, and Amtrak.

It is entirely possible, and reasonable, to avoid renting a car during your visit, if you stay near campus. The UT campus and downtown Austin are connected to the airport via a bus service (line #20), and the activities of the workshop will all happen in walking distance of each other (and are also located close to SciPy).  Austin is also well-covered by ride-sharing services (RideAustin, Uber, Lyft) and taxis.

Austin is hot in the summer: expect a high around 95°F (35°C) and a low around 75°F (24°C). July is the driest month of the year and humidity is relatively low.
