------------ 24.03.2010 - Second VBF Cross Sections phone meeting ------------ Participants: Andrea B., Ansgar, Chiara, Carlo, Pietro, Christoph, Rei, Daniela, Sinead, Ezio Acronymous: HW = Herwig - PY = Pythia - PS = Parton Shower Status of the Homeworks ----------------------------- - Carlo and Christoph (with Andrea and Pietro): high statistic (500k events) VBF samples produced with PHOWEG for m_H = 150, 200, 300, 400 and 500 GeV and both CTEQ6.6 and MSTW2008 PDF sets. Studies foreseen for Freiburg, with special attenction to the third jet activity. An additional ttbar sample has been produced, with the same hard events but showered with both PY and HW, to better understand the effects of the two different showering models. - Ansgar: work on the implementation of the Higgs "real" width in HAWK is ongoing, probably it will not be ready by Freiburg. With the current version of HAWK we should then not exceed 400 GeV. - Daniela: a recipe for running HAWK, and more generally any static-linked-executable on the Grid, has been uploaded on the VBF TWiki. HAWK jobs are running in the following configurations: * with and without s-channel contribution * with and without EW corrections at 10 and 7 TeV and for 10 mass points, from 100 GeV to 1 TeV, with CTEQ6.6 and MSTW2008 PDF sets. In the case of EW corr + s-channel (complete calculation), also QCD scales (variation between 0.5 and 2 mW) and PDF (according to Stefano Forte's recipe) uncertainties will be evaluated. If time will be enough, more mass points will be added in the low mass range. Tables and plots out of these calculations are expected to be ready for Freiburg. - Sinead, who just joined the group, will contact Carlo and Christoph for contributing on PHOWEG studies, and Christoph, for working together on VBF@NLO. Preparation to Freiburg ----------------------------- We expect to have material for: 1) a contribution on NLO PS (PHOWEG for sure, PHANTOM if Ezio will have something ready by then) 2) a contribution on cross sections estimation (HAWK in different configurations, VBF@NLO) Speakers still to be decided. There may be one from theory and one from experiments. Next short meeting, to discuss and finalize what to show in Freiburg, will be during the week after Easter. Daniela will circulate a Doodle poll soon.
