"The factory has been dealing with a data breach and the covic 19 issues. Nevertheless, the schedule for the 2 X-Band klystrons for DESY is still delivery by July 2020 and the test results of the 10 MW to become available also by July 2020. I had requested budgetary info for a qty 30 pcs 10 MW klystron with delivery scheduled over a 24-30 month timeframe
As far as the existing 50 MW is concerned, there is a pretty good idea about the production costs. However, if 30 pcs need to be supplied over a 24-30 month timeframe, some additional investment would be needed in test capacity. CPI is thinking along the line of loan by the customer of 1-2 modulators to enhance test capacity. Loan modulator to be returned with delivery of the last klystron"
Xiaowei Wu: Sub-harmonic deflector design progress
Transverse Deflecting cavity (TDC) spacig of bunches is 10 RF cycles in X-band -> 2,5 cycles in S-Band
Deflect bunches at 5.5 GeV for x=2.5 mm. If drifting length can be longer, then we can go from SLAC type LOLA TDC traveling wave structure (2.4 m length) towards Tshinghua University standing wave structure
Standing wave structure look better for now in overall length and cost optimisation, now work to be finalized on 5 cell standing wave structure
Avni will implement the new numbers in his beam dynamics calculations

Comparison between taperings
The wake around the 10th RF cycle was reduced by applying Gaussian distribution aperture and linear iris thickness
Thicker iris version which has a bit larger margin on the high gradient region might be a good choice (iris thickness 2 version)
High energy AND low energy case need enough energy margin
Breakdown rate is used as a usual assumption, maybe should decide what we really need
Wakefield monitors: put together the information of existing monitors for a state of the art for further decision taking whether to implement them or not

Calculations of power consumption should be done. Will start with the accelerators and see how we can integrate the rest of the machine.

Task 4:
Design of 36 GHz gyroklystron to drive a 3rd harmonic Linearizer
– Initial design through linear and non-linear beam-wave interaction theory.
– The results were validated by PIC simulations.
– Initially 2 MW then 3 MW output power was achieved.
– Magnetron injection gun (MIG) was optimized to achieve the required beam quality.
– Thermal management when operating at PRF 1 kHz was investigated.
– Depressed collector and output microwave window were analyzed.
With a similar procedure, a 2 MW, 48 GHz gyroklystron was studied to drive a 4th harmonic Linearizer.
Two journal papers were published under EU H2020 CompactLight support.
The draft of the design report on gyroklystron has been finished.
Other components, including input window and coupler, are being designed.
36GHz is still a very good option
Igor: completed the design of the 20 beam klystron design. Device is 10 cm long. Everything is designed including windows, cooling... approx. Overall cost 1.6m Euro

Not much material appeared in the documents in overleaf
Gerardo asks the question if we cannot have one modulator to feed the two klystrons (10MW and 50MW) not at the same time, but through different physical connections. There are a lot of common parts and systems...
