Tests done with V3 boards made in Japan, another six V3 boards being made in Europe
Light found to have an effect on ASIC performance and noise (one of reasons why V2 with an opaque cover was worse than V1)
- Effect more pronounced in lab, but present as well for (all versions) electronics installed in tanks in the hall
Investigations on background noise in the lab:
- Inherent noise difficult to measure as noise picked up dominating
- Noise found similar for all three front-end versions, nevertheless with V3 somewhat higher noise at certain frequencies (e.g. 40 MHz) for most measurements
- V3 with the metal cover replaced by a plastic one (as the other version) leads to the same lower noise level
  => Mark will investigate if larger distance between conductor paths and metallic cover solves and improves.
Response to calibration (on board): significant variations found for one and the same channel, very different from V1 and V3 boards and to response to external stimulus.
Test board available to inject a signal from a signal generator via capacitances, two different "profiles" possible (one with constant charge for all channels and one similar to a profile from a beam)
- Nice first results obtained!
Status and actions:
- With the changed situation (V3 front-ends being tested long before availability of beams similar to the ones expected for transfer line commissioning), the aim is to launch, if possible, front-end series production.
- Timescale: almost three months from launch of series production (two months for production of boards, one week for ASIC wire bonding, three weeks testing) until installation.
- Difficult to draw conclusions to date. Mark will carry out further comparative tests of the three versions.
  => We aim for another meeting say in two or three weeks to revise the situation.
- Test with the electronics installed in a tank close to the fast deflectors pulsing (and possibly generating EM noise) would be very useful
  => Action: Mark and Jean will coordinate with Francois and access the area together.
  => Action: Laurette will enquire when the fast deflector to extract into the LNE 50 line can be pulse for such a test.

Status of mounting of monitors (Jean)

Cleaning of bellow units (lab building 107) prerequisite to resume mounting of monitors

Materiel available:
- Seven grids (amongst the eight grids of the last batch, one has been made with conductive glue)
- 11 bellow units repaired in Japan (three or four units with leaks not counted, numbers will be reconfirmed by Jean)
- (number of available tanks is a potential bottleneck in case vacuum acceptance and installation of monitors takes long)

Development to make grids at CERN will not be ready before the likely installation of PUMA
=> Project relies on pieces made in Japan to complete the project (note: PUMA not part of ELENA project)
=> Proper project to be defined in case grids will be made at CERN
14 more grids are needed (11 for ASACUSA, 1 for AEGIS, 2 to complete the ATRAP lines) to complete the project and 7 are available:
=> Another say 15 grids should be produced to have as well spares, to be able to replace a few with many missing wires, and in view of PUMA (to be paid from a separate budget in case this experiment is approved).
