DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Felice Pantaleo (CERN)\, Dorothea Vom Bruch (LPNHE P
aris\, CNRS)\n\nThe CMS and LHCb experiments at CERN are moving towards he
terogeneous and massively parallel computing architectures for processing
and reducing data in real-time. However\, the different physics environmen
ts of the two experiments affect the design of the heterogeneous event sel
ection systems. \n\nThe implementation of an accelerated software trigger
system faces multiple challenges: from the software scheduling to the int
egration with the rest of the DAQ system\, from the reconstruction algorit
hms\, which have to be designed to run efficiently on GPUs\, to the trigge
r farm infrastructure. \n\nThe speakers will describe how CMS and LHCb re
designed some of the most time consuming algorithms in their online recons
truction (among which are tracking and calorimeter local reconstruction) t
o leverage the GPU’s massively parallel architecture\, allowing both the
experiments to increase their physics potential with sustainable costs.\n
\nIn addition\, the speakers will present and compare the approaches\, con
straints and trade-offs motivating the design of the CMS and LHCb heteroge
neous online event reconstruction and selection systems planned for LHC Ru
 n-3.\n\nZoom: https://cern.zoom.us/j/94344476291\n\nhttps://indico.cern.c
