Black holes, entropy and Hawking radiation

We will review progress over the last 15 years on a new form of gravitational entropy, that extends the traditional Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of black holes. This has lead to a new result for the entropy of Hawking radiation which is in agreement with information preservation, as opposed to information loss. It also gives a new picture for how to think about the interior of a black hole.
