Colliding light to make dark matter and measure tau g–2

Abstract: What happens when we collide light at the most extreme laboratory energies? Recent landmark experimental results using the LHC as a photon collider pave the way to a new class of supersymmetry and dark matter searches using the full missing momentum 4-vector via proton-tagging. Furthermore, the enormous photon flux surrounding heavy ions could be used to measure tau g–2. This can be 280 times more sensitive to new physics than muon g–2 but is currently so poorly constrained, not even Schwinger's 1-loop QED prediction is tested. These proposals highlight the exciting prospects for energy frontier photon collider science.
