LHCEWWG Jets+Ew, 24 August 2020
————————————————————
- ping Andreas on jet substructure
s4. Tutorial: RIVET and P8. Hannes to add PB TMDs. Would be good to add SHERPA (Marek?) and HERWIG (?), but need help to set these up
- Z+jet, W+jet, inclusive jets for benchmark, 7, 8 and 13 TeV
- centrally produced LHE files for all generators
- all three channels with more than one prediction
- check that no tension between experiments (1 MC enough)
- compare multiple generators to understand differences
- people:
- DESY: Heng and Mikel, V+jet
- Andrius (CMS) + Alec, Pierre-Hugues, Colette, Vincet
- Helsinki: Laura
- CMS/ATLAS combination in the future on V+jet and inclusive jets?
s5. LHCEW general / YR
- Benchmarks (DESY, Vilnius, Helsinki)
- Intrinsic kT tunes for Pythia8. Just tuning issue or e.g. energy dependent width (Hanne / DESY)
- Jet substructure: Heng, Mario Campanelli w/ student; => contact Sal Rappocio, Andreas Hinzmann (CMS), cc Mario and Ben Nachmann
- Systematics: Louie Carper, at advanced stage already, essentially ready. Important to have unified scheme for storing systematics. Presented to CMS GEN/SMP, ALICE etc. (=> for Mikko, read chapter)
s6. VBF and VBS meeting. Papers looking at parton shows contributions to VBF and VBS. W/Z transverse momentum would have relevance for VBF/VBS. Our studies also relevant for QCD background to VBF/VBS, but more interesting to think of it as signal and test.
s7. Jet reference
- nobody measuring 13 TeV at ALICE. Focusing on tracks jets since no full phi-coverage. Nima: somebody is already working on cross section at 13 TeV with full tracking+calorimetry
- ATLAS contact: Alec Drobac can find people (Steven Schramm from JetMET)
QCD@LHC talk
- ATLAS Lund jet plane in, Mario worked on it? => add
- CMS Colour singlet => could drop, not expert on this
- ALICE x3 results, check if all (Nima’s favorite is substructure)
- scope out jet substructure talks from all exits to fit in 20'?
s10. JER SF: ATLAS numbers?
- Hannes: outline looks fine
- no further comments from others
