HL-LHC BPM Design

Europe/Zurich
Dmitry Gudkov (Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics (RU)), Emilien Rigutto (CERN), Gerhard Schneider (CERN), Michal Krupa (CERN), Nicolas Sebastien Chritin (CERN)
1. Actions from the last meeting

  • Simulation generally looks ok, Gerhard will discuss with Vincent, and the results will be presented during the design review meeting.
    • --> not yet discussed, but will be done soon
  • do we braze the interface and cooling link or weld it?
    • --> answer from Laurent: ultrasound welding
    • --> would be good to discuss once again with VSC and Fritz --> Dmitry will contact N. Kos, and maybe Nicolas will discuss with Fritz after
  • an email with the entire process will be prepared and sent to VSC and MME colleagues --> action Dmitry
    • --> the cost estimate to be done with MME (Dmitry)
  • D2 integration --> meeting with Arnaud last week (Nicolas), cables are still to be designed. Official green light for freezing BPM design can be requested, but to be checked with VSC.
    • --> information received from Arnaud and Elodie, seems everything is OK, to be confirmed --> Nicolas
    • --> Electrical cables still need to be advanced (interferences found in the 3D), will be fixed by Nicolas.
2. Plans for design documentation release
  • list of persons for drawings approval procedure to be prepared --> action BI (WP leaders, ATS group leaders)
  • all drawings must be released before launching the approval procedure --> action all
3. AOB
  • Review: Gerhard discussed with Delio (will not attend the review) and Vincent
  • Tubes interfaces and routing: check what we have on Q1 side.
  • Meeting should be organized with Fabrice and Arnaud together to check the integration --> action Nicolas
  • Proceed with 2nd control of transitions drawings for type B --> action Gerhard
  • Release simplified BPM body LHCBPMQSTMB0001--> actions Dmitry (ready for check), Nicolas (check), Gerhard (release)
  • Check cooling tubes interfaces and orientation with VSC (Fabrice) --> action Nicolas, probably Monday next week, Nicolas will organize the meeting with Fabrice and us, if possible
  • Check the maximum force the welding seam between the cooling tube and the BPM body can withstand --> action Dmitry, Gerhard
  • Follow-up on quench study with Susana --> action Dmitry
