ASP COVID-19 Analysis meeting on November 24

https://indico.cern.ch/event/978294/

Present: Ann, Dephney, Somiealo, Aluwani, Toivo, Ebode+Prof. Kossi, Azwinndini, Simon and Kétévi.

1. We discussed progress reports from Dephney, Somiealo and Toivo. Feno and Laza sent update on Madagascar soon after the meeting. One issue that came up is how to handle the initial condition on Unaffected/Healed for this ratio to well-behaved at the boundary. Azwinndini discussed this at the previous meeting last week but it was not clear if everyone implemented the recommendation properly. At the next meeting on December 1, Azwinndini will give pedagogically lecture on how to do this correctly.

2. Ann Njeri will give a SAIP seminar on December 4. She asked the following inputs on the 10 countries that we are studying:
    a. From the people that compiled the data: a one-page about when the first case appeared in the country and the measures taken by the country up to now.
    b. From the people that did the analysis: A set of plots in png format on the data modeling, data/model, R0, R0 with uncertainties (statistical, systematic and total), Unaffected versus Healed, and the ratio of Unaffected / Healed.
    c. Everyone should connect during Ann’s talk and if necessary help answer questions specific to their country.

3. Simon suggested that Ann should add to her talk information about why COVID-19 has not impacted Africa as originally predicted. There are speculations in the literature.

4. Ann will rehearse her talk during our meeting on December 1. At that time, she will also receive the most updated results where available.
