1) Communication / organization

1.1) Report from Collaboration board (CB)

  Oleg
Kiselev: CB, 18th of Jan
  Agenda: Elections

Chair of CB: Eva Kabuss (Mainz)
Confirmation of the Physics Coordinators from PRM: confirmed Jan, Aleksei

  Technical Board (TB): Stefano Levorato

AMBER Members: TPC    : Oleg Kiselev, Eugeny Maev, Alexander
Vasilyev
                Fiber  : Matrin Losekamm
                ALPIDE :
Maixim Alexeev

Spokesperson: 12 candidates still to be discussed

  Many representatives didn't join CB.

Eva: respective people should sent an alternative, but also this many did not do

 1.2) Communication with SPSC

  Jan Friedrich:
I didn't get any special reply.  We don't know if it is good or bad.
There was an update from our side.

 1.3) Report from the TB:

  Oleg
Kiselev:
    - Full day meeting.
    - Proximeter (COVID protection) is mandatory to use from March.
    - Reports from teams (mostly from COMPASS equipment).
    - TPC for pilot run. Discussion, where to put it? :
in the tunnel : muons to measure , but no access
nearby        : still some muons, limited access
far           : access but no muons
       No decision was made.
    - Communication starts to be established.
    - Beamtime allocation : statement that beamtime is not still allocated

Fulvio Tessarotto :  Very positive impression and stimulating discussion.

  Stefano Levorato  (in chat) :
    - Next COMPASS TB is 23 Mar 2021
    - Also very positive about TB discussion.

  Oleg
Kiselev:
    - Beamtime allocation : statement that beamtime is not still allocated.
    - When?
  Fulvio Tessarotto :
     - Beam allocation has to be build
     - We know: SPSC approved COMPASS pol-d run split btw. 2021 and 2022
     - PoT (but not date) allocation has been done
     - Beam allocation will be provided by Committee
     - We will be asked for input before next SPSC
     - Next SPSC 15th of March
  Jan:
     - CPSC: How we see optimal allocation? Push into beginnings (low intensity beams)
     - We objected (June is too early for us)
     - We think that earliest day is in the beginning of September
     - We are clearly has been asked to have test run in 2021 (be ready for it)
     - A autumn is optimal

Alain Magnon: The existing plan is confirmed?

Fulvio: It's only a starting point for allocation.

Jan: We have to discuss it and have a decision at the end of February

Fulvio: Earliest beam in July can be used for some parasitic measurements.
This will be very positively taken from the SPSC and COMPASS sides.

Here are Christian's notes on the same topic:

Here maybe add that different beam time scenarios where discussed: possible would be a first beam usage beginning of the COMPASS run mid July for pretesting the TPC + final beam time not fixed yet although scenarios where proposed like the time slot with low beam intensity for COMPASS around mid September to beginning of October; but nothing fixed yet - idea is to be in close communication with COMPASS to have the least interference and best profit of both experiments and both are very eager to find a nice solution - but for sure there will be the 20 days of beam time for the PRM as a priority of SPSC / base for a data taking in end of 2022 etc; but since time is required for the development the very earliest date would be beginning of September (only a theoretically date, hopefully)

 2) Reports from the groups.

  2.1) DAQ:

  Moritz
   - We started with planning. To have AMBER network and DBs. Discussed at TB.  Some
money requested.
   - We installed fiber lines fo a future experiments

Eugeny: What we will use in the pilot run (old or new system)?

    Moritz, Oleg:
     - Work on firmware for FlashADC started.
     - Meanwhile a small test stand is done in GSI.
     - Modification to sync with COMPASS DAQ is started.
     - Our goal to use a new DAQ as much as possible.
     - The problem is an amount of data from FlashADC (several ideas)

Christian's notes:

Moritz: That a basic proposal for DAQ hardware was made at the last COMPASS/AMBER TB to have a dedicated DAQ system with the new DAQ scheme. This would include webservers, DB server, gateway, readout engines, file servers. Money needs to be discussed further - AMBER no money

  2.2) Fiber.
   Martin:

   - No much news. Solving current issues.

   - Ordered the 500um fibers; getting in touch with CERN regarding ASICs as readout chip

   Fulvio:
    - We are interested in CAD drawings for a full integration of the tracker.

   Martin:
    - I will send email to start / continue communication
    - 500*500 um fiber (question from Stefano)
    - 4 stations instead of 3 (question from Eugeny)
    - will provide 100% of pile-up rejection in
ALPIDEs (question from Eugeny)
    - we could use both possibilities (question from Maxim: tracks or hits to "sync" with ALPIDEs?)

There is an idea to combine the ALPIDE / Fiber stations into one (Stefano and Martin want to get in touch with each other)

  2.3) Silicons
   Maxim:
    - FlexPCB prototypes in preparation
    - Rumors: we will have it (have proper
license)
    - We'll likely have sensors in 4 months (question from Oleg)

   Stefano:
     - We have to pay (!) for ALPIDEs to have sensors in April
     - There will be communication with Magnus

  2.4) TPC
    Eugeny:
     - Viza problems:
       - German and Swiss embassies are closed now.
       - Eugeny >65 yrs (could be problems)
     - Preparing for remote work (Help from PNPI-LHCb people)
     - How to organize a uniform electric field for drift region?
       - Copper wires for shaping rings (20 rings with resistors)
       - What quality of the field we'll have?
       - Calculations by GSI group / PNPI group?
       - Production in CERN February-March
     - Pressure test in April
     - Summer: mount inner structure

   Stefano:
     - I will contact the CERN diplomatic office for your case.

   Oleg:
     - No general problems to come from Russia in GSI

Electric field discussion (Christian's notes): Larger drift in IKAR TPC (40cm) compared to the original settings - requires adding of field shaping rings.  Oleg Kiselev has a group that could work on this simulation using ANSYS for field calculations to optimize the geometry and settings for the field -> here also Martin Hoffmann from Bonn and Fabian Metzger were working on for the final TPC and can provide
information etc.

   2.5) Software / Simulation
    Christian:
     - Is working on implementation (see next contribution)

 3) Contributions

3.1) Christian on material simulation (see slides)

   Martin (s.7): The
behavior of electron is due to GEANT internal cut, we are working on it currently

   Stefano:
    - Do you prefer to have pipe squared? This is not an issue.
    - Smaller pipe is also possible

   Jan:
    - Bundele the efforts for MC (request from antiproton group)
    - MC group should be organized.
    - there is a request for a senior organizing person to be a head of such group

 4) AoB

Aleksei: How do we organize Minutes check?

Jan: Maybe, publish and ask people who are interested to check.

Christian: We can make records of the meetings.

Aleksei: That could be a problem, as all the people have to be informed about recording and give an agreement. One, who make Minutes can have temporary record, which have to be deleted, after posting of Minutes.
