Subject: Notes from WLCG tracking tools Task Force (TF) meeting on savannah-to-jira migration Date: 2012/12/05 Agenda: https://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=219255 Notes by: and Participants: Joel (LHCb) Ueda, Alessandro (ATLAS) Maarten (ALICE, middleware projects in savannah) Benedikt (savannah) Nils, Alvaro, Gautam (jira) Maria (tracking tools TF) Summary: Experiment, operations, middleware representatives in the tracking tools TF will make a list of their own savannah projects and inform the savannah and jira developers if they wish to migrate them to jira or will prepare for another solution well before the end of 2013. Overview: This was slide 6 of the 2012/11/14 presentation at the GDB: https://indico.cern.ch/getFile.py/access?contribId=3&resId=6&materialId=slides&confId=155074 - Savannah code is no further developed, not even security-wise, so it has to be migrated to something. - TRAC is available for people "as is" as an add-on to the SVN service, but no longer enabled by default for new SVN projects. (JIRA is the recommended alternative.) - JIRA is offered as a service by CERN/IT http://cern.ch/its. Savannah and JIRA experts are in regular contact to ensure Savannah-to-JIRA migration progress. - There will be a dedicated meeting of the Tracking Tools TF in the week of December 3rd. - There will be a presentation of the Tracking Tools TF on this matter at a WLCG Operations Coordination meeting in January 2013. Access to savannah: http://savannah.cern.ch It now hosts 369 projects. It will be shutdown as an instance end of 2013. Savannah URIs wil be redirected to jira. In addition, savannah will be archived on a VM, just in case. All development projects will be migrated to jira. Operations' projects will have to be evaluated by their owners. This is will be done by the tracking tools TF members. Each experiment will go through its own savannah projects. Maarten with middleware developers will go through legacy tickets to decide if they need to be migrated. Access to jira: http://cern.ch/its . Access to jira for WLCG users is granted if they are CERN accounts thanks to a licence paid to Atlassian by CERN IT. Open source apps can be connected to jira, not only the Atlassian stack. Savannah JIRA migration: SFT developing a plugin to convert Savannah issues into jira issues. Working fine for bug-tracking cases. (Some highly customized use of Savannah, e.g. for Operations.) Other meetings: Annoucement of Savannah-jira migration in the next IT Users Meeting (ITUM) in Feb 2013. Announcement on 2012/12/06 in the Archictects' Forum.
