Description
A variety of string theory constructions point to the existence of interacting superconformal field theories in six dimensions. For an infinite class of CFT_6's with minimal supersymmetry, AdS_7 duals have been recently proposed. I will begin by introducing the NS5-D6-D8 brane construction at the heart of these dualities and the 6d N=(1,0) linear quiver gauge theories that they engineer on the tensor branch of their moduli space. I will then review their conjectured dual AdS_7 solutions of massive type IIA supergravity and show that they are determined by a piecewise linear function in one-to-one correspondence with the gauge theory data. In the second part of the talk I will compute the a conformal anomalies in field theory and gravity and show that they agree to leading order in the holographic limit. The agreement can be understood as a continuum limit, in which the discrete data of the field theory become the continuous functions in the geometry.
