 EURORIB’10

Lamoura, June 6th – 11th, 2010

 FIRST CIRCULAR

The second international EURORIB conference "EURORIB’10" will be held from June 6th to June 11th 2010 in Lamoura (France).

SCOPE OF THE CONFERENCE

Our nuclear physics community is eagerly awaiting the construction of the next generation of Radioactive Ion Beam (RIB) facilities in Europe: HIE-ISOLDE@CERN, NUSTAR@FAIR, SPES@LNL, SPIRAL2@GANIL and the future EURISOL. The collaborations built around these facilities are exploring new experimental and theoretical ideas that will advance our understanding of nuclear structure through studies of exotic nuclei. Following in the spirit of the conference held in Giens in 2008, EURORIB’10 will provide the opportunity for the different collaborations to come together and present these ideas, and explore the synergies between the research programmes based around the different accelerator projects.

The main topics to be discussed at the conference are:

1) At and beyond the dripline

2) Shell structure far from stability

3) Fusion reactions and synthesis of heavy and superheavy nuclei

4) Dynamics and thermodynamics of exotic nuclear systems

5) Radioactive ion beams in nuclear astrophysics

6) New modes of radioactivity

7) Fundamental interactions

8) Applications in other fields

9) Future RIB facilities

10) Production and manipulation of RIB

11) Working group meetings on synergies in instrumentation and data acquisition

In order to preserve the informal character of the meeting and to stimulate presentation of innovative ideas, no proceedings will be published. Review talks are planned with ample time scheduled for discussion. These reviews will be followed by shorter contributions presenting the latest results. We encourage you to submit contributions in the above-mentioned areas of physics. The International Advisory Committee will select the contributions for oral presentation. A number of presentations will be allotted to contributions given by graduate students.

VENUE and TRAVEL

The conference will be held in the SEM Village de Vacances resort in Lamoura http://www.vvl‐lamoura.fr/, which is situated in the Jura mountains about an hour from Geneva. The conference will provide full board and lodging to participants from June 6th, (Sunday dinner) to June 11th, (Friday lunch) at a total cost (including the conference fee and the conference dinner) of 850CHF for a single room or 700CHF for a shared twin bedroom if paid before April 11th. After April 11th the fee will increase by 75CHF. The fee for an accompanying person sharing a room with a participant is 550CHF. A limited number of grants covering room and board for students, postdocs and attendees from "emerging" countries presenting an oral or poster contribution will be available and can be requested at the time of abstract submission.

The programme will open on Monday June 7th at 9:00 and will close on Friday June 11th at noon.

To increase the interactions among participants, we ask the participants to stay for the full 5 days of the conference.

Participants should organize their own trip to Lamoura. For those arriving at Geneva airport or Bellegarde train station (TGV from Paris) buses to the conference site will be organized on Sunday afternoon for the arrival and on Friday afternoon for the departure (details about schedules will be given in the second circular). For those arriving at Geneva train station there are frequent trains out to the airport. For those arriving by private car, ample free parking is available on-site.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION and REGISTRATION

Participants wishing to present contributed papers should as of now submit the title of their contribution and a short abstract using the web-interface in the Indico system via http://cern.ch/eurorib2010 not later than February 15th, 2010. The contributions will be selected for all presentations at the end of March 2010. Please note that the first time that you use the INDICO system you must follow the instructions to create your own INDICO account.

Registration will be open on January 15th 2010 and will close on April 25th 2010 via the website http://cern.ch/eurorib2010. The second circular will be distributed on April 1st 2010. Please note that the submission of an abstract does not automatically register you for the conference.

We would be grateful if you could bring this announcement to the attention of your colleagues.

Information concerning the workshop will be available on the web site http://cern.ch/eurorib2010 and for any questions you may have please contact isolde.secretariat@cern.ch .

Looking forward to seeing you at Lamoura,
