ASFAP— YPF Survey update

  • Mounia gave an update of the ASFAP Survey via one slide presentation;
    • up to now, we have  a total of more than 51 respondents, they represented 23 countries. We still need more statistics, we would like to reach a target of 100 responses at least!
    • Mounia sent an email to OWSD (Organization for women in science for the developing world) and Mothers in science to help us target more people.
      • OWSD has accepted to disseminated our survey through their networks (email and Twitter)
      • Mothers in Science has also accepted to disseminated our survey through their networks (Twitter)

Letters of Interest

  • Benard gave an overview of LOI via a slide presentation. the side will be available on the indico page;  
    • The link to the LoI submission page is accessible from the main page of the African Strategy, www.africanphysicsstrategy.org.
  • Our role compared to other ASFAP WGs is unique
    •  Other ASFAP WGs focus directly on Fundamental and Applied Physics;
    • We are focusing on Promoting the next generation of leaders in  Physics.
  • What would our LoIs look like?
    • LoI can be a description of ASFAP Survey preliminary results;
    • Separate or Single LoIs

ASFAP Community Planning Meeting;

The ASFAP Community Planning Meeting (CPM) was scheduled for December 12-18, 2021, as an in-person event during the African Conference on Fundamental and Applied Physics, ACP2021 at the Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech, Morocco: https://indico.cern.ch/event/1060503/

Considering travel restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure the health and safety of our ASFAP Members. The ASFAP SC decided to postpone this event to March 7-11, 2022. 

At this ASFAP CPM, we will gather to:

  • Review the LOIs received;
  • Start categorizing the LOIs into White paper topics;
  • Define the outline of the Strategy report.
