The discovery of πΆπ violation in 1964 with πΎ mesons was a big surprise, and only understood within the CKM mechanism in 1973. The CKM picture was confirmed with the discovery of πΆπ violation with π΅ mesons at the π΅-factories in 2001.
In this seminar, measurements of πΆπ asymmetries in charged π΅ meson decay modes to three light mesons are reported using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb detector. πΆπ asymmetries are observed with a significance of more than five standard deviations in the
π΅Β±βπΒ±π+πβ, π΅Β±βπΎΒ±πΎ+πΎβ π΅Β±βπΒ±πΎ+πΎβ and decays. Localized asymmetries in the phase space, as well as in intermediate quasi-two-body
π΅Β±βππ decays are reported, and found to be very large.
These results add to our understanding of the differences between matter and antimatter.
