Objective
The overarching objective of the day is to explore the practical experience of a large research infrastructure at the intersection between science and diplomacy. The engagement with scientists and administrators at CERN will provide an opportunity to analyse and discuss in more depth the opportunities and constraints of science diplomacy in a research environment in the current geopolitical climate. 

The panel discussion in the afternoon will add a further dimension through the interaction with international organisations in Geneva that have both a normative and a research component, and how the interplay between science and diplomacy plays out in this framework.
