The observation of long-range correlations in high-multiplicity proton-proton and proton-nucleus collisions at RHIC and LHC suggests the potential formation of a strongly-coupled Quark-Gluon Plasma in smaller volumes. We present the first high-precision measurement of long-range near-side yields in pp collisions down to very low charged-hadron multiplicities as well as the challenges involved in such analysis. This measurement extends the use of long-range correlation techniques to low-multiplicity events and provides a quantitative comparison to the results obtained in point-like e+e- collisions at similar event multiplicities. With these results, we provide unprecedented constraints on the emergence of collective phenomena in hadronic collisions in a so-far unexplored kinematic region.
