INFN CERN ASG collaboration meeting on FALCON D coil production tooling

Europe/Zurich

List of follow up action items:

  1. To discuss the number of ground insulation layer, GI thickness, collar shoe ( base don QXF, 11T past design example). The corresponding closed cavity impregnation mould tooling dimensions shall be confirmed accordingly.
  2. To include in the coil pole interface the load plate piece which protects the coil surface from the pole. The plate is impregnated with the coil and could be made either form SS or G11.
  3. To discuss and use the resin thermoset for HFM magnet manufacture based on qualified CERN resin CTD101-K which allows to benchmark magnet design and performances.
  4. To discuss the use of  the binder material (CTD 1202) after layers winding ( both, only inner one). It should be minimised and preferably applied on inner layer after winding
  5. To review the procedure to apply pressure onto coil before the curing to avoid cable turn movement.
  6. INFN to discuss with ASG the CAD exchange with CERN of the updated CAD tooling models. This is important piece of information to facilitate procurement package preparation by CERN to align to the new common coil design. The tooling drawings are expected to be archived as project QA files.
