Asset Management of the Fibre Optics installation with Netgeo
Presentation by Jeremy Blanc and Jorge Rodriguez Fernandez/EN-EL
CERN’s optical fibre infrastructure includes more than 34’000 km of fibres and 13’000 patch panels for the distribution of optical signals within and between the CERN sites, including buildings and surface facilities, accelerators, and experiments. A comprehensive software solution is undeniably required to effectively manage all the infrastructure components, from the ducts for cable blowing down to fibre splices and connectors interconnections. This talk highlights how the software NetGEO allows the management of the infrastructure assets in addition to streamline installation and improving traceability and operational efficiency for users across CERN’s extensive fibre network.
