Description
In the modern approach to the perturbative S-matrix, unitarity and locality is used to iteratively obtain the full S-matrix from the fundamental building blocks of the theory, the lowest-point amplitude. As all building blocks are on-shell, gauge symmetry is manifested in a trivial way. In this context an interesting question one can pose is how do we see inconsistencies in chiral theories? I will show using only unitarity and factorization constraints, consistency conditions as well as the enlargement of the spectrum usually associated with anomaly cancelations, can be reproduced by careful analysis of the rational terms in chiral gauge and gravity amplitudes.
