Being Leonardo da Vinci, an impossible interview

by Massimiliano Finazzer Flory

Discover the story behind Leonardo, the painter, the scientist, the inventor. His story, his secrets, methods of working, passions and lifelong advice will be told in Renaissance Italian.

Through the format of the impossible interview, Massimiliano Finazzer Flory becomes Leonardo "physically", wearing period costumes, with a make up that is a true reconstruction of the face of the genius of Vinci; acts in Renaissance language on the original texts of Leonardo including the famous Treaty of painting.

The "Leonardo" of Finazzer Flory answers questions about his childhood, about his activities in the civil and military court, about how do you become "bono painter", on the relationship between painting and science, painting and sculpture, painting and music. It speaks of anatomy, botany and mathematics ....

Comments on the Cenacle and the figures of the apostles, faces his passion for water, alludes to the fashion of the time, responds to the attacks of the enemy, explains the motions of the soul, offers predictions on the flight of man and, finally, dispenses judgments and aphorisms to live our time.

For the first time through the format of the impossible interview Leonardo speaks and answers questions of our time.

The theater becomes the place where we can experience the thought of Leonardo of his idea of universal culture.

The theater is the place of a truth that becomes emotion.

Finazzer Flory puts on the stage the thought of Leonardo. His universal vision of things. Not the opposition between humanistic and scientific knowledge but the search for a culture that combines in synthesis art and nature, science and painting. Offering, through 67 questions, the opportunity to talk about the different Leonardo that are inside the genius of Vinci.

As well as the smile of the Mona Lisa embodies ambiguity and a plurality of senses and meanings as "his" Leonardo plays on the richness of the language, of his thinking by speaking of himself as an engineer, a painter, an expert in military affairs, an architect, a philosopher ...

Through the use of authentic word of Leonardo, giving voice and face to the master in an intense dialogue on rigorous original sources and polemic, supported by the chronicles of the period.

The hand gestures and looks carefully studied in reference to the real and alleged portraits offer us a very known image of Leonardo, that help to create a profile set in a mysterious scene. In complete contrast to a contemporary image of the interviewer wanted to underline the revolutionary thought of Leonardo.
