Avec l’arrivée des nouvelles technologies, les grandes organisations humanitaires connaissent des bouleversements sans précédent. Non seulement ces outils facilitent la coordination des opérations, mais de nombreuses victimes peuvent peser directement sur les systèmes d’aide et les rendre plus efficace.
Malgré ces avantages, le tout-technologique comporte aussi de gros revers, notamment le risque de mettre de côté les plus pauvres, sans réseau ni smartphone, et de laisser des traces numériques susceptibles d’être revendues à des Etats. La région lémanique, qui rassemble la Genève Internationale et un vivier extraordinaire d'innovateurs et d'entrepreneurs, est au cœur de ce débat. Genève est-elle en passe de devenir une Silicon Valley de l’humanitaire ?

With the arrival of new technologies, big humanitarian organisations are experiencing unprecedented changes. Not only do these tools facilitate the coordination of operations, but many victims can weigh directly on support systems and make them more efficient.
Despite these advantages, the all-technological does involve significant downsides, such as running the risk of setting aside poorer populations, without access to networks or smartphones, as well as the leaving of digital records susceptible to being sold back to states.
As a place which unites the International Geneva and an extraordinary tank of innovators and entrepreneurs, the Lemanic region is at the heart of this debate. Is Geneva in the process of becoming the Silicon Valley of humanitarian aid ?

Kakuma, au Kenya, est le plus grand camp de réfugiés au monde. Chaque jour, parmi des milliers d’adultes, des centaines d’enfants arrivent sans leurs parents. Lieven Corthouts a passé 4 ans à filmer les destins de Nyakong, Claude et Khadijo, leurs rêves, leur intégration dans cette «ville invisible» et leur quête pour retrouver leurs parents. Lieven Corthous a également développé une application et un webdocumentaire qui prolongent ce film.

The town of Kakuma, Kenya, is the largest refugee camp in the world. Every day, amidst thousands of adults, hundreds of children arrive without their parents. Lieven Corthouts spent 4 years filming the lives of Nyakong, Claude and Khadijo, their dreams, their integration into this "invisible city" and their quest to find their parents. Lieven Corthous developed an application and a web documentary that accompany this film.
