This first visit is designed to give a great overview to CERN technologies, facilities and capabilities and is organised by IdeaSquare, KT and RCA. The intensive week aims to:
Provide anIntroduction to CERN and IdeaSquare, the interdisciplinary innovation hub for design led innovation at CERN
Gain an overview of the most exciting technologies emerging from CERN with the help of the Knowledge Transfer group
Develop a deeper understanding of the UN’s SDGs and the role disruptive innovation and new technologies could play
Undertake a series of design sprints to identify opportunities for CERN’s technologies to deliver meaningful solutions in aid of the SDGs
Inspire fresh insights and create a repository of new knowledge that can be applied over the following 14 weeks to inform and inspire more considered solutions to address the SDGs to be presented in January 2018 in an Exhibition.
• Overview of UN’s SDGs and the role of governments, private sector, and academia in addressing these goals
• Workshop to review each of the SDGs. Each student will share their personal research into their selected topic and make the case for why their SDG is the most important
• Identification of the SDGs of the greatest interest
Presentation of concepts developed during Sprint – including summary of SDG challenge, concept and the value proposition, visualization, and storyboard of how it works, system description To Panel from CERN and RCA Faculty
