Abstract:

This seminar will review the evolution of high-speed image sensors from 4,500 fps in 1992 to 100 Mfps in 2017, and will report on an expression of the temporal resolution limit of photoelectron conversion layers derived in 2017. This could be considered the counterpart of the expression of the spatial resolution limit proposed by Lord Rayleigh. A proposal will then be shown of a silicon image sensor designed to satisfy the conditions introduced in the derivation of this expression achieving the temporal resolution limit of 11 ps.
