1 The physics potential of the FCC

I review the physics questions that the Future Circular Collider is posed to answer, and the current estimates of its performance in the areas of precision and discovery reach. I will highlight the opportunities that make the FCC unique, and report on the ongoing work towards the complete definiton of the project.
