At CERN unique technology is used and typically the unique equipment is not an off-the-shelf product, but is rather designed and developed at CERN (in collaboration with universities, research institutes and companies). Knowledge Transfer is important within the organization as well as towards the outside world. A KT-fund is able to financially support new ideas and potentially interesting technologies can be brought to the market in an easier way.
