第三回 空気シャワー観測による宇宙線の起源探索勉強会

本勉強会は宇宙線研共同利用「Knee領域および最高エネルギー領域での宇宙線反応の実験的研究」と「新しい宇宙線空気シャワーシミュレーションコード 開発 」の一環として実施します。両共同利用ともに共同研究で、研究集会ではないため参加者は関係者に限定します。その分、自由に議論ができることを期待します。例年本研究会は二日間開催していましたが、今年は検出器設置作業中の実験が多く、参加者の減少が見込まれることから１日間に短縮して開催します。

今回の勉強会のトピックスは「宇宙線化学組成、ハドロン相互作用」に主にフォーカスしたいと思います。また、Auger実験のメンバーであり、相互作用モデルSibyllの開発者のFelix Riehn氏が研究会に参加するとともに、夕方にFelix氏によるICRRセミナーを開催します。

16:30 Interactions of ultra-high energy cosmic rays

Ultra-high energy cosmic rays are the most energetic particles observed in nature. As such they provide a unique view to the universe at its most extreme. In this presentation I will focus on the interactions of UHECR in the atmosphere. I will summarize the current observations and discuss what these observations imply about the nature of particle interactions at the highest energies and what may still be learned in the future.
