En 1989, le CERN était une ruche d’idées et les informations y étaient stockées sur un grand nombre d’ordinateurs incompatibles. Sir Tim Berners-Lee imagina alors une structure unificatrice permettant de connecter entre elles les informations disséminées sur ces différents ordinateurs.
En mars 1989, il écrivait une proposition intitulée « Gestion de l’information : une proposition ». En 1991, cette vision de connectivité universelle était devenue le World Wide Web !

Projection du documentaire « ForEveryone.net » (en anglais sous-titrée en français) suivie par une discussion avec quelques-uns des acteurs qui ont assisté ou participé directement à la création du World Wide Web :

• Peggie Rimmer, superviseur de Tim Berners-Lee au CERN de 1984 à 1990
• Ben Segal, promoteur de l'adoption d'Internet au CERN et mentor de Tim Berners-Lee
• Jean-François Groff, pionnier du Word Wide Web au côtés de Tim Berners-Lee
• François Flückiger, promoteur d'Internet en Europe, ses responsabilités ont inclus la gestion de l'équipe du World Wide Web au CERN après le départ du de Tim Berners-Lee pour les USA

In 1989 the world’s largest physics laboratory, CERN, was a hive of ideas and information stored on multiple incompatible computers. Tim Berners-Lee envisioned a unifying structure for linking information across different computers, and wrote a proposal in March 1989 called "Information Management: A Proposal". By 1991 this vision of universal connectivity had become the World Wide Web!

Screening of the the documentary "ForEveryone.net" (in English with French subtitles) followed by a discussion with some of the actors who witnessed and participated in the creation of the World Wide Web:

• Peggie Rimmer, Tim Berners-Lee’s supervisor at CERN from 1984 to 1990
• Ben Segal, Internet promoter at CERN and Tim Berners-Lee’s mentor
• Jean-François Groff, early Web pioneer who collaborated closely with Tim Berners-Lee
• François Flückiger, Internet promotor in Europe, his responsibilities at CERN have included the management of its World Wide Web team after the departure of Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee
