GAS M&O meeting 29 April 2019

ALICE #no elog

From previous meetings:

  • MTR problem with humidifier (with GC we measure 1/3 of H2O with respect to the beginning of the test) —> LPh to investigate

 

ATLAS #no elog

  • RPC Mixer: problem with C2H2F4 MFC
    • To change MFC with a small flow —> Patrick/Kacper

From previous meetings:

  • Flowcell for new RPC racks —> Kacper to give the flow necessary —> to decide if 3 or 5 mm

 

CMS #no elog

  • GEM
    • Pneumatic pipes not in place —> found temporary solution
    • Missing cables CANBUS and PROFIBUS from USC to SGX5 —>Michele/Daniel
    • Valve mounted on the other way in the rack pump!!!
    • Cables without marks —> Patrick needed to re-check everything
    • ELMB test for distribution racks
    • Software will be completed later

From previous meetings:

  • RPC pre-distribution need to modify two racks for RE3.1/4.1

 

LHCb #1789

  • RICH1 in Run with CO2
    • a lot of Air —> to do a purge
    • after the purge to monitor the Air content with the Analysis Chain (O2) and with GC —> Mara
  • RICH2 in Run —> need to start recuperation asap
    • need to install RIX
    • missing one MFM for the membrane —> Patrick
    • to investigate for dry air compressor if it is possible to build with our grease —> Luca
  • MWPC in run with Ar/CO2
    • Rack 64 —> to investigate 
  • OT racks dismounted
    • Some racks in building 21, other racks under RP controls

GENERAL

  • Presentation of Mara on LHCb RICH2 (https://indico.cern.ch/event/815795/contributions/3405074/attachments/1835476/3007134/lhcbrich2.pdf)
    • 40000 liters of CO2 interjected
    • in total now we have 40% CO2 + 2% Air while in December we had 8% CO2
    • 35000 l of CF4 lost in 4 months!
  • Presentation of Gianluca on CMS Ventilation test (https://indico.cern.ch/event/815795/contributions/3409588/attachments/1835479/3007149/ventilation_test_29_04_2019.pdf)
    • It looks like no effect on RPC were seen (but cavern was not completely closed)
